Membership Information – Fall 2011

All families participating in any of our classes this session will need to become members of both: 1) the Lutz Children’s Museum and 2) the Little Theater of Manchester.

Here’s Why the Lutz: If you’re new to our group, you should begin by reading about Our Partnership with The Lutz. Even though we are temporarily unable to use the Lutz museum building this session, we will be holding classes in their Oak Grove Nature Center location. In addition, our partnership with the Lutz is a strong and on-going relationship and we continue to support it through our membership.

Here’s Why the Little Theater of Manchester: The Little Theater of Manchester (LTM) has generously agreed to allow us to use their beautiful and historic home, Cheney Hall, rent-free. However, in order for us to be covered under their insurance, and to compensate them for additional utilities and maintenance costs, they have requested that our families become members of LTM. Membership is $15 per family. In order to offset this cost, the Lutz has offered to give all of our families that join LTM a $15 credit toward their Lutz renewal for 2012. We would like to thank both the LTM and the Lutz Children’s Museum for their generous support of our group.

How to Become a Member of LTM: You will need to become a member of LTM on the first day of classes. We will have forms on-site, or you can download a form and complete it ahead of time. You can pay the $15 dues by check made payable to the Little Theater of Manchester.

How to Redeem Your Credit Toward Lutz Membership: The Lutz will have a list of all MHC families who have become members of the LTM. In order to redeem your $15 credit, you will need to renew your membership (or join for the first time) by mail or in person. You’ll fill out the regular Lutz membership form and send in your check for $85. You will not be able to redeem your credit online. If you have already purchased your 2012 membership, send us an email and we’ll contact the Lutz so they can issue you a credit.

Remember that not only is the Lutz membership reciprocal with many children’s museums (ACM) they are also in the process of adding science museums to their reciprocal agreements (ASTC). Currently, your Lutz card is accepted at the Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History, the EcoTarium in Worcester, the Springfield Museums Association and the Bruce Museum in Greenwich, and beginning November 1st, it will be accepted at all ASTC museums. In addition, the New England Air Museum is currently accepting the Lutz membership card through October.
